All of the honey produced by us is through the cold extraction method. We only heat our honey minimally, aiming to keep the temperature at the level found within beehives. Although, this method makes the extraction and pouring a bit slower, it preserves the distinctive flavours, vitamins, nutrients and bioactivity of the honey - just as nature intended.

What is active honey?
Active honey is honey that retains all of its natural enzymes and nutrients. This type of honey is known for its antibacterial and antioxidant properties, making it a popular choice in natural remedies and skin care products. All of our active honey is regularly and routinely batch tested and certified for strength.
Do you pasteurise your honey ?
No, many other honey suppliers heat their honey to extremely high temperatures in order to kill off the yeast molecules in the sugars, making the honey more liquid, easier to package and slower to crystallise. However this ends up also damaging the natural vitamins, minerals and taste within the honey.
Wisdom Choice’s honey goes through a cold extraction process, which heats the honey at a lower temperature to retain the natural taste and benefits of the honey. It takes more time but the outcome is delicious and healthy honey!

Does honey expire or go off?
Honey has a very long shelf life, and it is rare for it to expire or go off. Honey is naturally composed of mostly sugar, which naturally inhibits the growth of microorganisms that cause food to go bad. Properly stored honey can last for years or even decades without spoiling. However, honey may crystallise or become cloudy over time, but this is a natural process and does not indicate that it has gone bad. If this happens, simply warm the honey in a hot water bath to return it to its liquid state.
